JPBX 914
Caltrain 914 shoves a commute through College Park station as a jet lands at the nearby San Jose International Airport. 914 is one of 5 Caltrain F40PH-2s with a gear-driven head-end power (HEP) generator. The other 15, classified as F40PH-2CATs, have a seperate Caterpillar engine that powers the HEP system. These units are distinguishable from the straight F40s by the lack of an open walkway on the back of the unit. This space was used to fit the Caterpillar engine, and so the area is now covered, with a crew door on either end.
