Here are 11 photos of Pennsylvania Railroad locomotives that were taken in and about Newark, New Jersey, during the years 1951-1961. All of them were purchased via eBay auctions conducted by Mr. Tim Rose: one on 12 July 2020 and six on 24 August 2020. The photographer's name, the locomotive road number(s), and the date are cited when specified on the slide mount. Most of the slide mounts are annotated "Al Roberts Collection."

Newark. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Mr. Martin Zak. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4700, a P-5 (2-C-2) built in Juniata as number "7898" in July of 1931, rated at 3,750 horsepower, renumbered "4700" in September of 1933, retired in April of 1965, and presently on display at the National Museum of Transportation in Kirkwood, Missouri. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4711, a P-5A (2-C-2) built by Baldwin-Westinghouse during October of 1932, rated at 3,750 horsepower, and retired in July of 1965 after 33 years of faithful service. Newark. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken near Newark, New Jersey, on 25 October 1952. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4913, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata during January of 1942, rated at 4,620 horsepower, served into the Amtrak era as number "913," and presently on display at the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4774 and #4756. Both are P-5A (2-C-2) electrics built by General Electric and rated at 3,750 horsepower each. #4774 was built during December of 1932 and retired in December of 1961, while #4756 was constructed in September of 1932 and retired in June of 1963. Both are GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electrics built in Juniata and rated at 4,620 horsepower each. #4907 was built in August of 1940, served into the Amtrak era as number "908," and retired in January of 1973 after 33 years of service. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5670, an AS-6 switcher built by the American Locomotive Company in May of 1950 and rated at 660 horsepower. In this context, it's pulling a wire-maintenance train. Note that the pantograph on the last car in the train is in the "up" position, and that only one track at this location is electrified.
