CBRs First Locomotive
Title:  CBRs First Locomotive
Description:  In late 2011, CBR 1203 lead a short string of empty centerbeam cars out of Eugene yard and out over the Coos Bay line, it was the first revenue train over the line since 2007 when CORP shocked its customers and the community by embargoing the line without any notice. CBRs roster would eventually expand to its current roster of 5 locomotives with the arrival of 4 GP38s.

Former Gardiner Branch Alco
Title:  Former Gardiner Branch Alco
Description:  This ALCO S2 used to serve the International Papermill on the near-by Gardiner branch of the Longview Portland & Northen. The branch connects to the Coos Bay line near Reedsport and jets out 4 miles to Gardiner. While it has been abandoned since the late '90's the branch itself still exists rusted and un-used, and I took pictures of what remains for this album.

The Great Coos Bay Swing Bridge
Title:  The Great Coos Bay Swing Bridge
Description:  The last and largest of the three swing bridges on the Coos Bay Branch, this one totals at 12 bridge spans. The next one up the line (Northbound) at Reedsport is 10 spans and the one at Cushman (near Mapleton/Florence) is three spans.

Title:  Southern Pacific C-50-9 4720
Description:  The 4720 has spent nearly a decade on various spur tracks that have fallen out of use in and around Springfield, this time being the Former Lehigh spur. I'm glad they brought it out in the open, it has spent a couple of years hidden in the Springfield Yard around Rosboro making it nearly impossible to photograph.

Description:  On the last day of Summer 2013, the Southbound Coast Starlight approaches the curve near MP 610 at Dougren siding. Dougren was the first siding built passed Fall Creek Jct. on the 1952 Lookout Resovuir re-alignment portion of the Natron Cutoff. Dougren was named for Douglas Green who helped pay for the new portion of SP's railroad.

Description:  Note to editor: UP 8086 Locomotive category needs to be fixed. While expecting two Southbounds which did not pass until after dark, this unexpected Northbound was a very pleasent surprise. The leader UP 8086 is a brand new heavy c45ah built in 2013 specifically for the I-5 corridor, they are 8 tons heavier then the standard es44ac which is intended to help fix the problem of trains stalling on the hill out of Oakridge.

Title:  Fresh New Union Pacific Power
Description:  leading this Northbound intermodal. The 8086 is a brand new 2013 heavy gevo which is 8 tons heavier then the standard es44ac which is intended to keep trains from stalling on the hill out of Oakridge. The other two are both 2012 series, es44ac and sd70ace respectively, making this one great looking set of power to creep through the shaddows of the setting sun on the last day of Summer 2013. Note to editor: UP 8086 locomotive model designation needs fixing.

Where's 1801?
Title:  Where's 1801?
Description:  For most of my life the geep in charge of the log car switching in Eugene was former SP GP-9 #1801 painted in SP's Black Widdow scheme, but today the 2303 has the job. This is along Oregon Electric district which was an inter-urban street car line until it closed down during the great depresion. Line was originally built by the SP&S.
