Title:
GN E7A #509 - Great Northern
Description:
Beautiful shot of the Great Northern E7A #509 backing into the train shed at the St Paul station. This E7A was built by EMD in June of 1945 as GN 504B. It was renumbered 504C in 1950 and then renumbered 509 in 1952. After Great Northern merged into the Burlington Northern, it became BN #9907. Eventually it was retired and sold to Naparano Iron & Metal on 4/12/1974. One interesting side note is the loco originally was delivered with script lettering 'The Great Northern' on its nose. No photographer was listed for the negative that was used to make this sharp photo.
