The first two units were still in primer, except for their radiator compartments. Norfolk Southern 9516, on the right, was one of eight NS C44-9W units parked at the north end of the test track. |

The new nose was hand-labeled UP6, but a little sign attached to the handrail officially identifies it as UPAC-34 / 7281. The locomotive was at the north end of the Wabtec test track three miles north of the builder’s Fort Worth plant. |
