ELCON GP40-3 (?) located by the NS East End Shops (now Freight Car America) in Roanoke. I saw it from the front coming down the road, and started to wonder who painted an ACL loco!

John J. Poshepny General Is this unit owned by the Govt? 1/24/2007 5:17:15 PM
Rodney Gentry General You can go to the Elcon site, http://www.elconinc.net/html/about.htm, and it tells you about the company. They are former EMD employees, basically revitalizing various EMD locos. To my understanding, DOTX 2000 is a joint venture with Elcon and the DOT, and is a test bed for various retrofitted electronics, allowing older EMD locos to be updated to todays standards in preformance and efficiency. 1/24/2007 5:40:00 PM
