UP #5553 & KCSM #4520
Literally while touring the second floor control room for the former C&EI Haley Tower, we heard the rumble of an approaching train. With no time to get outside, I shot these views through the windows of Haley Tower. Wish they had been cleaner! BTW, thanks to Tom Beckett (see comment below) for catching the fact that it is a KCSM unit, not KCS. Beginning to think the window wasn't that dirty - might be my eyesight instead!

Tom Beckett General You did OK with the windows; I bet you noticed the dirt more than we do. The photo looks clear enough. The power, however....UP, when they merged SP, seems to have merged the grime along with the rest of the road. I get a lot of UP power here on the KCS-it comes in on AEP coal trains for two destinations-that is just filthy. The KCSM-a nit pick, that unit is KCSM 4523, note the de Mexico" to the right of the big KCS-units still in gray-there are quite a few-tend to be pretty grimy as well. There are some that have been painted into the Belle scheme, and they mostly look decent. Either way, I'll take it, It will all get changed over the next decade as CPKC repaints/gets new power. A good catch, though!! 11/8/2023 5:04:30 AM
