| Blackhawk. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Fred Byerly that was taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 24 August 1969. Photo Caption: "DRS 4-4-1000, Pennsylvania No. 8053. Philadelphia, Pa. Aug. 24, 1969." Penn Central #8053 is a DRS 4-4-1000 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as Pennsylvania Railroad number "5593" in March of 1950, rated at 1,000 horsepower, and renumbered "8053" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Baldwins in Action ~ On North-Eastern Railroads" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (892-21). |
