PRR 1453, K-4S, #2 of 2, 1956         
Kern. Here is the second of two successive 35mm color slides of photos by Fred Kern that were taken at Bay Head Junction, New Jersey, on 29 April 1956. At the right is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1453, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during July of 1917 and retired in September of 1956. Partially visible at the left is Central Railroad of New Jersey Railroad engine #2409, an H-24-66 "Train Master" built by Fairbanks-Morse in March of 1956 and rated at 2,400 horsepower.
