I had gone up to the transfer station, which is adjacent to the Lincoln Av crossing, to dump some wood from a recent project. As I was getting done, I heard a southbound blowing for the crossing. Dont know why, but for some reason, I cant hear the trains blowing for Country Club, or Davidson Rd from the dump. So I was caught off guard. The train, a Q KCNL, was moving slowly, only about 10 MPH. I went in and paid, then took off through the back side of town, beating him to the US 412 overpass, which is what hes approaching in this photo. Note the trees to the right of the train. Only a few years ago, they were not tall enough to block the view of the Allen Canning building, which is behind them, now used by ProPak as a warehouse. |
