PRR 9705, BF-15A, 1958         
Volkmer. Here is an image of a photo by William D. Volkmer that was taken near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, on 13 September 1958. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9705, an unidentified Baldwin-built "B" unit, and #9737. #9705 is a BF-15A built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in May of 1950, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in May of 1965. #9737 is a BF-16 constructed by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966. They're about to pass under the State Route 53 Bridge with a train of empty hoppers bound for the coal mines of Western Pennsylvania. William E. Burket Collection.
