UP 4-10-2 #8804
Built by Alco-Brooks in May of 1926, this 3 cylinder variant was primarily used for the Los Angeles & Salt Lake Rwy. Union Pacific labeled the 4-10-2 wheel configuration as "Overland" rather than using the traditional label of "Southern Pacific' type for obvious reasons. The loco was not very successful and was rebuilt by the UP shops in April of 1942 to a two cylinders style and renumbered UP 5095. The rebuilt loco lasted until being scrapped in April of 1953 at Cheyenne, WY. Original specs - 63" drivers,210 psi boiler pressure, 25x30" high pressure cylinders, 25x28" low pressure center cylinder, engine weight of 404,000 lb, tractive effort of 77,917 lb.
