| Originally built by Alco-Brooks as 3 cylinder UP 4-10-2 #8808 (serial #66734, class FTT-1), it proved to be less successful than predicted so the UP shops rebuilt the loco in January of 1943 by removing the center cylinder and renumbering it UP 5099 (class FTT-1-2). Since the loco was scrapped in November of 1949 at Pocatello, ID, this may be one of the very last photos taken of it before the scrapper's torch reached it. Jack A. Pfeifer photo |
