BNSF Train H-NOHO
When BNSF began serving New Orleans on 16 December 1996, its daily train H-NOHO (New Orleans-Houston) originated at CSX’s GENTIILLY YARD on the east side of the city. In this image on 11 January 1997, H-NOHO had just left GENTILLY with Santa Fe GP35’s 2870, 2951 and no cars. It had just crossed the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal drawbridge and was about to get onto the New Orleans Public Belt for the 22½-mile trip to home rails at the west end of the Huey P. Long Bridge. Along the way, it would pick up five cars at the NOPB COTTON WAREHOUSE YARD before continuing on to the BNSF’s AVONDALE YARD.
