PRR 3853, K-4S, c. 1957
Here is an original photo by Douglas C. Jones that was taken at the Turntable located just East of the Coaling Tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3853, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during April of 1923 and retired in August of 1955 after 32 years of faithful service. One end of the Turntable is visible in the left foreground. Partially visible in the background is the Westbound Receiving Yard.
