L&N No. 8 and SOU No. 47
Southern Railway No. 47 – the SOUTHERNER from New York City – was sitting in New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal next to Louisville & Nashville train No. 8 – the combined PAN-AMERICAN for Cincinnati and the GULF WIND for Jacksonville. The SOUTHERNER was due in at 7:10 PM while the L&N train was scheduled to leave at 8:45, so No. 47 must have arrived a little late this evening. Notice the altered lights on L&N 791. E6A 771 was the only other L&N E-unit like this, although E6A 756 and E7A 761 had their lower light changed. (approximate date of photo)
