GMN 2-8-2 #107 - Gulf, Mobile & Northern         
Here is a rare original photo of Gulf, Mobile & Northern 2-8-2 Mikado #107 built by Baldwin in 1912. Specs - serial #38417, class 101, 57" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 22x28" cylinders, engine weight of 205,800 lb, tractive effort of 37,387 lb. The loco lasted, along with its remaining sisters that weren't sold off, until being scrapped by 1948. No date was given so an approximate one was used. H. C. Bullock photo

Rick Morgan General One of the standard “100 ton” light Mikes Baldwin had in its catalog from about 1910. They were popular with smaller Class 1 railroads, particularly those in the southeast part of the country. Along with GM&N, MV, FtS&W, GNRR, NONE, S&A, A&V and VS&P also bought them. “Bigs” Southern and IC got them through acquisition of other lines. 5/2/2021 12:37:37 PM
