BN 1  Contributor's Pick!
Burlington Northern 1 is an F9A, built for the Northern Pacific in 1954. After the merger, it served for BN as their 9800 and as their 766. In 1990, it received its executive green pait and the BN herald on the nose, as well as a rebuild, giving it the class F38-2 (essentially a GP38-2 in an F-unit body). Today, it and its sister units 2 and 3 are preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union. Beside it is UP B40 1848.
