| TV 302 was one of a series of trains Conrail ran for American President Lines. Note it is set to run via the Chicago Line and Selkirk. In practice, it ran via the Tier routinely until the West Point tunnel clearances were improved, and the rock stabilized. This didnt happen til the early 90s. The train is showing a Saturday departure from Proviso Yard, on the C&NW, which had the middle leg of the trip from the west coast. The reality was, it ran when it showed in Chicago, and could be ahead of, or behind, the published times, depending on ship arrivals at Oakland, and transit from there via UP and C&NW. Power pooling was uncommon. |
