PC E8A #255 - Penn Central
Originally built by EMD in April of 1947 as NYC E7A #4020, it was rebuilt by EMD into an E8A unit. It became part of the PRR/NYC merger roster first as PC E8A #4020 and later as PC #255 seen here in passenger service. I believe it moved over to the Amtrak roster at a later date. This is a Paul Kuehner action photo.

Tom Beckett General I dunno about moving to Amtrak at a later date. That's an Amtrak number. You may have more documentation, but as far as I recall, PC numbered its E's into what had been the NYC numbering scheme, starting at 4000. Cool shot. I wonder what train it was. There was a time in the early 70's when Amtrak didn't have service west of Buffalo on the NYC-there was the Niagara Rainbow, which went to Detroit via the Canada Southern, but nothing through Hamburg, if that's the one just south of Buffalo. 11/4/2020 5:42:02 AM
