South Australian Railways 504 steam locomotive         
A South Australian 500 Class 4-8-4 Northern steam locomotive. This locomotive was built as a 4-8-2 in England but during a rebuild it was changed to the wheel arrangement 4-8-4.

Mikey Puttock General Hi Kevin, I'm not a steam loco nut but I can say that the "Northern" type locomotive wheel arangement wasn't found in great numbers in Australia. the SAR 500 class and 520 class were "Northern" type along with H1 of the Victorian Railways. They only built 1 because of war time restrictions in WWII. 11/7/2020 10:12:43 AM
