| IC 3110 pauses along Union St. at the former Monroe St. grade crossing as it works the north end of the CN, former SOO, yard at Neenah, WI, on 31 May '20. The building at right, 716 Harrison St., still used by Neenah Foundry, I believe, was recently (within the past week or two) spruced up with a fresh coat of paint and some new doors. The Winneconne Ave. overpass stands beyond that. It was erected ca. 1988 in order to eliminate the busiest grade crossing in the area. The area between the tracks and Union St., from Main St. to Monroe St., used to be the yard. I don't know when the current, significantly larger yard (extending southwestward from Winneconne Ave.) was built, but a map from 1909 shows the yard still here. |
