| Southern Pacific C630 unit 3143 and 3144 were on their way from the SP’s AVONDALE YARD to the New Orleans Public Belt’s COTTON WAREHOUSE YARD with the regular afternoon transfer run. The train was operating over the NOPB along the Mississippi River, and was behind Audubon Park. The SP assigned seven of these big Alcos (3140-3146) to New Orleans for transfer service between early 1973 and late 1977. (approximate date of photo) |
