SP (T&NO) 0-8-0 851         
Southern Pacific (Texas & New Orleans) SE-3 class 0-8-0 851 was at the railroad’s ALGIERS SHOPS, across the Mississippi River from New Orleans. Stenciling on the cylinder and valve covers showed that it had been serviced here on 13 February 1953. The locomotive had been built at the railroad’s HOUSTON SHOPS in April 1930 as the 176 and was renumbered second 851 on 11 October 1950. It was “sold” to the SP on 26 October 1953 and renumbered 4511, and was scrapped at Sacramento on 11 October 1956. (approximate date of photo)
