| This loco is oddly in near mint condition for having been photographed in 1953. Most of the 1949 MLW built 2-10-4's were showing distinct signs of age. This is not one of the two 2-10-4's that was preserved, although CP 5931 was oddly renumbered as 5934 at first when it went on static display in Calgary after retirement. Does anyone know why this loco looks so sharp at this late date? Did it serve is some commemorative service? The photo was hand dated by J.R. Quinn so I don't think it was a number error. |
