| By 1950, this 1938 Montreal Locomotive Works 2-10-4 Selkirk is showing its age. Still a powerful brute to handle the rugged Canadian Rockies, the dieselization was slowly creeping through the railroad industry. After heading up passenger service, the Selkirks by this time were relegated to handing mostly freight service. The entire class was scrapped in 1957, just 7 years after this photo was taken by J.R. Quinn. |
