| Built by Alco-Brooks in March of 1916, this versatile 2-8-2 Mikado #721 hauled the steel around the Calumet region until being retired in June of 1948, a few months earlier than this photo. It was sold to the Purdy Co for scrap. One interesting note is it had the Miller Train Control installed for operating on C&EI. Specs - serial #55730, 63" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders, engine weight of 313,9600 lb, tractive effort of 58,707 lb. Unknown photographer |
