| W890 (a loaded munitions train) passes MP 89 on the Chattanooga Sub. In a few yards it will enter the north portal of the Cowan Tunnel. During the Civil War, Confederate troops blew up a munitions train near this spot. The engineer placed a great deal of faith in his lone locomotive, making it across the mountain without the assitance of the pushers. |
