CR 7870, GP38, 1976
Everyday. Here is an original 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 13 August 1976. Shown here (L to R) are Conrail engines #7870 and two more units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #7870 is a GP38 built in January of 1971 as Penn Central number "7870" and then owned by Conrail under the same road number. Their crew is preparing to pull a mixed-consist freight train to Altoona and elsewhere.
