Here is page eight of a nine-page cover article by Jerry A. Pinkepank entitled "On Behalf Of Baldwin." It was published originally in the December 1967 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 29. Photo by Don Wood. Partial Caption: "En route from Enola to Altoona, Pa., a pair of Pennsy Centipedes articulate their way westward with a deadheading Alco switcher in tow in the consist behind." Both "Centipedes" are BH-50's built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as BP-60 passenger engines rated at 3,000 horsepower each, but later regeared and reclassified as 2,250 horsepower BH-50's for freight only. #5828 was constructed in November of 1948 and retired in April of 1962. |
