East Altoona. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide (converted to B&W) by an unidentified photographer that was taken in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 17 April 1956. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8320, an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1913 and retired in February of 1958. The smokestack in the background emanates from the powerhouse at the 50-stall East Altoona Roundhouse. William P. Nixon Collection #50551. |
