PRR 6154, J-1, 1955
AHC. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by John Pickett that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 13 October 1955. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6154, a J-1 (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during December of 1943 and retired in April of 1959 after just 16 years of revenue service. Note that it is pushing this train up the Allegheny Mountains while in reverse! Partially visible to the left of the N-5 cabin car are at least two more helper engines: a pair of Baldwin "Centipedes." Produced and distributed by FJC Products of Newport, Delaware.
