NW 2-6-6-4 #1207 - Norfolk & Western  Contributor's Pick!       
Here's a great shot of the 1936 Roanoke Shops built Norfolk & Western 2-6-6-4 #1207 poised under the coal tower. The photo came from an original negative by Don Morice. Note the solid pilot and hidden coupler pocket on this brute. Specs - NW Roanoke shops, 1936, class A, 70" drivers, impressive 300 psi boiler pressure, 24x30" cylinders, 573,000 lb engine wt, impressive tractive effort of 125,897 lb. The entire class of 43 units was retired between 1958-59.
