| It wont turn out to be much of a contest. The diesel train on the right is rolling along at track speed, and will enter Queens interlocking after passing my position on the platform, moving over to Main Line track 2 for the trip to Hicksville, then on to Ronkonkoma. The train of M 1s is slowing for the stop at Queens Village.To the left of the trains is one of the more unusual parts of the LIRR, the Queens Village Team Track. It was a small yard with a couple of tracks and a crane for use by receivers who did not have their own siding. By the late 70s, most of the cars there were on various LIRR mow assignments. I dont think I ever saw a revenue car there. |
