PRR 2282, EF-25, 1966 Editors Pick!
Mid-Mountain. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, during mid-June of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2282, #2260, and another unit whose number is not legible. #2282 and #2260 are EF-25's built by EMD in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. They are pulling an eastbound merchandise freight train down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. The slope of the Horseshoe Curve's upper end is also visible in the distance.
