Grain Containers Down Under  Contributor's Pick!       
Leave it to the Aussies to figure out a way to move grain that the US hasn't picked up on yet. These are grain containers; they have loading troughs on top and are otherwise handeled like a standard container. This car, with two containers, is bound for export.

Gary L General Axle loadings are far higher in the US. Easier to dump 100 ton hopper cars than all the handling involved with these boxes. 3/7/2014 12:21:40 PM
Rick Morgan General Good point- this car, CQZY 1639A, is rated at 76tons; but you see more of this now in Australia for bulk commodities now rather than buying single-purpose cars. 3/7/2014 7:03:21 PM
