CNJ 2-6-2T #214 - Central RR of New Jersey  Contributor's Pick!
Built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin) in 1902, this is an example of a 2-6-2 tank locomotive of the CNJ J1 class. It had 63" drivers, developed 200 psi in its boiler for its 18"x26" cylinders. The engine weight was 189,900 lb and it could apply a tractive effort of 22,731 lb. It was used primarily to move passenger trains along the CNJ mainlines. It looks like it might have finally reached the scrap line in the yard from the looks of the engines around it. No photographer listed.

Alan Fricker General Notice the headlight is missing, the cylinder is open, the rods are gone-yes, I'd say it's the scrap line at Eport. 2/8/2014 9:30:14 AM
