Gregg Bartley General OK, I admit I am a bit of a geek, as well as an engineer (not the train type), so I get into the details in these old photos. I was struck by how close the push rod attach points are to the hub of the driving wheels. Looks at that! That design seems to have very little leverage to get that sucker moving from a standing stop. It would seem much more efficient to have the attach points out near the rim of the wheels. It would make for a really short stroke for the piston as well. I wonder why that design was chosen? 4/29/2014 2:11:00 PM
Chuck Zeiler General Actually, I believe the stroke would increase the farther the pins were moved from center. 5/2/2020 2:18:38 PM
