CP Belleville Subdivision - Cherrywood Siding. Distributed Power intermodal heads east. The abandoned track vearing to the left leads to a massive Ontario Hydro electric transformer station built in the 1960s. I believe that the rails were built specifically to transport the original heavy equipment into the station, and were rarely, if ever, used again after the facility was fully operational. There's another similar spur (in completely deteriorated condition) feeding another rail entrance to the transformer station just a few hundred yards ahead. This was my first visit to the area. I really love stumbling onto this kind of old industrial area where trains still rule. |
