CSXT'S Atlanta Division Boyles Terminal Sub   Contributor's Pick!
CSXT Southbound Light Engine Move X099 ( Nashville, Tn. to Waycross, Ga. ) stopped at 13th Street Interlocking in Birmingham, Al. for a meet with a few NS trains before proceeding on south. HLCX 7149 used to be 1 of only a few Natural Gas Experimental SD40-2's that BN tested in the 90's. I've always wanted to shoot these units, but not necessarily in these conditions, I'd liked to have caught them while still new with all the logos & paint in good shape, but at least I got a shot of it before it got sent to Patterson, Ga. where it's likely to be stored for years & rust away. The other one of these former experimental Natural Gas SD40-2's was in service on BNSF at one time, but not sure if it still is. It is wearing the H-1 scheme of BNSF & numbered in the 7800 series

Atlanta Rails General Were these the units that had been reactivated by CSX briefly and now getting bumped back to storage by the GEVO's? Awesome catch on the LNG unit, I believe the other one that HLCX has is in standard paint and in Mexico. 11/3/2011 4:09:58 PM
William H. Davis Jr. General I doubt it, these have been stored in Nashville for years, it would be nice if they put them back in service, but that's highly unlikely, probably going to be stored in Patterson, Ga. if not Waycross, Ga. for many more years to rust away, I don't see CSXT using this junk over the hundreds of new GE's they have system wide, I hope I'm wrong & they do inspect them & put them back in service, this consist pulling a train is an all day chaser for me, even busted up in 3's 11/3/2011 5:54:52 PM
