Trail of the Bootheel Railroad
In 1995 the BN sold off the Kennett branch to a local operator who went by the name Bootheel Regional Railroad (BRR). The line had been one of the few remaining ex-Frisco branches that at one time had covered most of the state's southeast region. BRR didn't last long as in mid-1996 one of its bridges was torched, cutting the line in two. Abandonment was granted in September 1996. Power for the line was provided by the Acadiana Railroad in the form of GP9 1610. This view is looking west down the former ROW at Bragg City, about 1/3 of the way along the 17 mile shortline.
