DGNO 66
Looking like a GP35, this DGNO GP38m (or GP38CU as DGNO calls this unit) idles at the company depot in Garland. Delivered to Texas & Pacific as GP35 600 in December 1963, this unit would be renumbered 2500 in 1974, then MP 2500 in 1976. In 1981 this locomotive was rebuilt as a de-turbocharged and derated (to 2,250 HP) GP38M and renumbered 2617. On August 18, 1986 this unit was retired by Mopac and five months later picked up by Wilson Railway Supply which then leased the Geep to Kiamichi Railroad as KRR 3804 unitl April 1988 when it was returned to Wilson. An agreement was made to sell this unit to Texas Mexican Railway as TM 869 in November 1988 but was never delivered and instead was sold to Azcon who then sold it to Railtex. This unit first went to Austin & Northwestern as AUNW 66 then was rebuilt again as a slug mother in March 1993 and sent to Dallas, Garland & Northeastern as DGNO 66. In 1996 this unit was transferred again to Goderich & Exeter as GEXR 66 then renumbered GEXR 3834 in 1998. This unit is now retired and used by Goderich & Exeter as a parts source.
