Amtrak Trains 583 and 577 were apparently combined at some point on the route between San Diego and Los Angeles. Both engines seemed to be running as the train left Fullerton California on this warm Sunday evening in October, but there are many other reasons why one train would need to be hooked onto the other including faulty brakes, a blown air compressor and/or the generator that provides electricity to the cars could have malfunctioned. |
