MILW F40C 40
MILW F40C 40 at Tower A2, Western Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, May 29, 1982, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Built in April 1974 (c/n 73612-3), named Village of Bartlett, this locomotive eventually became Metra 600, and was retired in 2005. It is one of only 15 F40C's built, all for the Milwaukee Road's use, purchased by the Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corporation (Metra). In the background is Tower A2, marking the beginning of Milwaukee Road rails. This train is leaving Chicago Union Station rails, making its first station stop at Western Avenue after departing Union Station several minutes earlier.
