AMTK 9401
In the consist of the eastbound SFZ was Amtrak 9401 "Silver Dome," ex-BN/CB&Q 4714 "Silver Alchemy," the very first dome car. It was built by Budd in 1940 as a flat top coach and rebuilt as a dome car in 1945. Believe the car ahead of it is the "Limona" which was ex-D&RGW 1250, nee-C&O 1877, built by Budd in 1948 for the "Chessie" streamliner that never was, with a rear diaphragm applied by D&RGW for mid train use as a lounge car. Date of photo approximate.
