Santa Fe SD24 4575  Contributor's Pick!
ATSF SD24 4575 was 13 years old when this picture was taken at Albuquerque in 1973. The unit was in remote-control helper service north to Raton at the time and is shown here coupled to a U23C and r/c car for that work. It would be rebuilt by the company a year later into an "SD26", which would give it a dozen more years of service before being sold to the Springfield Terminal as their 645.
