SP (T&NO) 2-6-0 460
Title:  SP (T&NO) 2-6-0 460
Description:  Southern Pacific (Texas & New Orleans) M-10 class 2-6-0 460 was near the “end of the line” – both literally and figuratively – as it sat outside the railroad’s ALGIERS SHOPS, just across the Mississippi River from New Orleans on 3 October 1951. The locomotive had been built by Baldwin (37896) in June 1912 as T&NO 500, was renumbered 685 in December 1949 and then second 460 in May 1950. It was sold to Southern Scrap Metals Co. in New Orleans on 3 June 1952.

SP (T&NO) 2-6-0 463
Title:  SP (T&NO) 2-6-0 463
Description:  Southern Pacific 2-6-0 463 (second) was working at AVONDALE YARD, just west of New Orleans, coupled to a Harriman Common Standard passenger car. The Mogul had been built by Baldwin in 1912 as the 503, in the 500-514 group. It was rebuilt at the Algiers Shops in New Orleans in 1931, renumbered 688 (second) in 1949 and then 463 (second) in 1950. This loco was a real survivor, outlasting all of its siblings and most of the other steam locomotives on the T&NO. It was finally sold for scrap on 7 January 1957.

SP (T&NO) 2-6-0 468
Title:  SP (T&NO) 2-6-0 468
Description:  This Mogul was one of a group of 15 2-6-0's built by Baldwin in June 1912 as Southern Pacific Lines 500-514. In December 1949, the entire group was renumbered 685-699; and in May 1950 they were renumbered again, to 460-474. Here at ALGIERS YARD, the 468 shows evidence of its most recent renumbering. All of these locomotives lasted for at least 40 years, being retired between June 1952 and January 1957. This loco was sold to Houston Compressed Steel on 2 February 1955. (approximate date)

SP (T&NO) 2-6-0 491
Title:  SP (T&NO) 2-6-0 491
Description:  Southern Pacific (Texas & New Orleans) Mogul 491 was parked at the railroad’s Algiers Shops, just across the Mississippi River from New Orleans. This loco was one of 15 2-6-0s built by Baldwin in 1909 for the Cananea, Rio Yaqui y Pacifico in Mexico as their 515-529. In 1912, this railroad became the Sud Pacifico de Mexico and three of these locomotives passed on to the SPdeM, while six went to the Arizona Eastern and six to the Houston & Texas Central. The 491 was built as CRYyP 517, became H&TC 560 in 1912, then T&NO 560 in 1934 and was renumbered T&NO 491 on 15 May 1950. The loco shows some evidence of its recent renumbering, and it was the last of this group to be retired. It was scrapped at Houston on 26 October 1953.
