On the rocks
Title:  On the rocks
Description:  One place I didnt shoot a lot of trains, partly because it was hard to beat a train to it after getting the shot at Chemung, and partly because the view was in shadow much of the day, was here at Wellsburg. In the summer, in late afternoon, this shot was possible. Wish I could have shot it in good light in the winter when the rocks were iced over.

Description:  A 557 train for Toronto heads into the last rays of sun behind a double set of power. Four units was uncommon, as typical power was a GP9u/SD40. The power may have gotten out of cycle, or the train was annulled one day.

Description:  Sometimes if there were not enough cars for two trains, 558 and 270 would be combined out of Buffalo. Such is the case here, as the 105 car train has power for both of its components, 270s power ahead, with 558s two CP units trailing. We see it at East Hornell, where it is about to meet a hi-wide Conrail extra.
