Description:
P-2b 4-6-2 3673 has just embrged from the "thru" stall at the East Somerville roundhouse and will now move to a ready track at the rear of the gigantic building. Later in the afternoon 3673 will proceed to the coach yard with a group of coupled engines to powep commuter trains.

This solid, no-nonsense 4-6-2 Pacific was built by Alco-Schenectady in February of 1913 as B&M #3678. It served for nearly 42 years before being sent to the scrapper's torch in July of 1955. Description:
Long before an EMD unit wore the B&M #3820, this loco had the honor. This solid 4-6-2 Pacfiic was built by Alco-Schenectady in April of 1911.It underweent several rebuilds of its arch tubes and thermic syphon with Elesco feedwater hearter installated. After nearly 40 years of service, the loco was scrapped in May of 1951 Specs - class P-2-a (P-2-b in 12/1918, P-2-d in 7/1924), 73" drivewrs, 200psi boiler pressure, engine wt of 238,000 lb, tractive effort of 31,600 lab. BM 4-6-2 #3825 - Boston & Maine
Description:
Built by Alco-Schenectady in 1911, Boston & Maine 4-6-2 Pacific #3625 led a very productive serviece record. It was rebuilt and reclassified several times and had an Elecso feedwater hearter installed. Between 5/23/1949 to 5/27/1949, it was used on the Barre & Chelsea train #1&2 due to a diesel breakdown. The loco was finally scrapped in August of 1955. Specs - class P-2-a (P-2-b in 12/1918, P-2-d in 7/1924), 73" drivewrs, 200psi boiler pressure, engine wt of 238,000 lb, tractive effort of 31,600 lab. No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo but it appears to be in Boston, NA..
