MP Extra 5315 East
Title:  MP Extra 5315 East
Description:  Missouri Pacific MT-73 class 4-8-2 5315 and a water car were on an Extra East running over the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad’s eastbound main track behind AUDUBON PARK in New Orleans, about five miles from its destination at the Texas Pacific-Missouri Pacific Terminal Railroad of New Orleans’ RACE STREET YARD. The two tracks on the right belonged to the Illinois Central, while the Mississippi River was just behind the trees on the left. The locomotive had been built at Alco’s Schenectady Works in January 1923 for heavy-duty passenger service, but by this time it had been demoted to run-of-the-mill freight trains. It was retired in January 1955.
